Welcome back, AI Admirers!

Breaking News: AI could soon become a trusted advisor in the White House. But there's a serious risk: instead of helping presidents make better decisions, AI could reinforce their existing biases and make dangerous mistakes sound like facts.

Get ready to dive into the latest happenings in AI.

Hand-picked News

A chatbot misread a ship, and US jets were in the air before anyone caught it.

  • What happened: A military analyst used an AI chatbot to assess a Chinese vessel and wrongly concluded it was carrying nuclear materials. Aircraft were airborne to intercept before the error surfaced. The scarier part is how fast that assessment moved up the chain and got treated as vetted intel.

  • Why it matters: If every agency leans on the same foundation models, ten agreeing assessments could trace back to one pile of data. Blending advisers’ estimates into a single number also hides that they disagreed at all. Obama’s team on the bin Laden raid ranged from 30% to 95%.

  • What’s next: Expect pressure for national security AI that argues back and shows uncertainty instead of faking precision, plus rules forcing AI-assisted reports to disclose shared data sources.

When ten agencies agree, how many actually thought about it?

This week: run your key prompts through a second model and treat the disagreements as the real output.

Rockstar’s biggest PC threat might be someone with an API key and a PS5 copy.

  • What happened: GTA 6 hits PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19 with no PC version announced. Former Rockstar technical director Obbe Vermeij thinks the studio may pull the PC release forward because AI tools could convert the PS5 build into an unofficial port.

  • Why it matters: He puts the cost of a bootleg port at tens of thousands of dollars in tokens plus endless hours of grinding. Worse than Rockstar’s version, sure. Still good enough to eat into sales, and for GTA he expects someone to fund the attempt.

  • What’s next: GTA 5 reached PC about 18 months after its console launch, and Red Dead Redemption 2 took a year. A shorter gap would break a release playbook Rockstar has run for over a decade.

Staggered launches were a business model. AI just made them a vulnerability.

This week: if your moat depends on being slow to reach a platform, assume AI can close that gap and ship there first.

The hardest part of frontier AI is now getting the lights on.

  • What happened: Anthropic agreed to pay $3.4bn for 1.7GW of Caterpillar gas generators, the largest known power-equipment buy by an AI company. It took over orders from a Texas supplier that couldn’t finance them.

  • Why it matters: Owning generation skips the years-long wait for a grid connection. It also invites local backlash. xAI is already being sued over gas turbines in Memphis.

  • What’s next: The deal lands right before Anthropic’s IPO, so every infrastructure bet gets public scrutiny.

$895bn in commitments sit in Anthropic’s IPO filing, nearly all of it compute and infrastructure.

This week: build so you can swap models fast, because power costs are about to hit API pricing.

OpenAI went looking for $30 billion and is walking away with maybe $20 billion at a lower price. What’s your first reaction?

  • A) The AI bubble is leaking – 45%

  • B) Still insane money, who cares - 55% 🏆

The AI bubble might be cooling, but the money is still ridiculous. Investors aren't necessarily losing faith in AI, they're just getting harder to impress.
