Apple is making a major change to how it names its operating systems. Instead of version numbers, future updates will be named by year—starting with iOS 26. This shift aims to simplify branding and create consistency across Apple’s ecosystem.
What You Need to Know:
Apple will rename its operating systems based on the upcoming year.
iOS 18’s successor will be iOS 26, skipping iOS 19 entirely.
Other Apple OS updates will follow suit: iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26.
The change will be officially announced at WWDC on June 9.
Apple is also introducing new user interfaces alongside the rebrand.
The move mirrors naming strategies used by Samsung and Microsoft in the past.
Why This Matters:
This shift simplifies Apple’s branding, making it easier for users to identify the latest software updates. It also aligns Apple’s ecosystem, ensuring a more cohesive experience across devices. Plus, the upcoming UI redesign could bring a fresh look to iPhones, iPads, Macs, and more.

Why This Matters:
Meta AI’s rapid growth signals a major shift in AI adoption, with billions of users engaging with AI-powered assistants daily. The introduction of paid features could reshape the AI market, challenging existing players like OpenAI.
