Hand-picked News

The coding tool can now orchestrate multiple AI assistants working in parallel to tackle complex projects, like building an entire Mario Kart game from scratch.

  • It built a complete racing game (8 tracks, multiple cars, powerups) by delegating to different AI models: GPT Image for visual assets while a separate model coded the web game simultaneously

  • Background automation that actually works: Schedule repetitive tasks like issue triage, CI failure summaries, or bug checks to run while you're away, then review when you're back

  • Worktrees solve the chaos problem: Multiple agents work on isolated copies of your code so you can explore different approaches without conflicts or messy git states

This is OpenAI's counter-move to Claude Code and Cursor's agent swarms. The timing matters because 78% of enterprise CIOs now use OpenAI models in production, though competitors Anthropic and Google are gaining ground rapidly.

Why this matters: We're officially past "AI writes snippets" and into "AI manages AI teams." The shift from coding to supervising is happening faster than expected. Sam Altman called it "the most loved internal product we've ever had" at OpenAI.

👀 Try it now: Free and Go users get temporary access (normally Plus/Pro only), and paid users just got 2x rate limits across CLI, IDE, and cloud.

But the damage to user trust (and Oracle's reputation) might already be done.

  • A snowstorm took down an Oracle data center, killing tens of thousands of servers and crippling everything from video posting to view counts for TikTok's 220M U.S. users

  • The outage lasted days, not hours, hitting right after the app's controversial U.S. ownership transfer to TikTok USDS (80% stake to American investors, 20% ByteDance)

  • Rival apps feasted on the chaos: Skylight jumped to 380K users in one week, while Upscrolled hit #2 in the App Store with 41K downloads as frustrated creators jumped ship

Quick context: This all went down during TikTok's messiest moment, right when the app switched to new U.S. ownership in late January. The timing couldn't have been worse.

⚠️ Why this matters: When you're fighting for survival in a regulatory minefield, you can't afford infrastructure disasters. TikTok just proved it's vulnerable at the worst possible time, and competitors now know users will migrate when pushed.

Oracle taking the blame here is also a huge red flag for any platform relying on third-party cloud infrastructure during high-stakes transitions.

Creator insight: If you're building on TikTok, have a backup plan. Apps like Skylight aren't just hype, they're your insurance policy. Start cross-posting now before the next outage hits.

The platform quietly wiped out some of its biggest AI channels, including the #1 AI slop creator on the site.

  • 16 channels deleted from the top 100 AI content farms (35M combined subscribers gone), with some completely erased and others stripped of all videos

  • YouTube CEO Neal Mohan actually used the term "AI slop" in an official letter, calling it out while promising to fight "low quality, repetitive content" with anti-spam systems

  • This isn't a blanket AI ban, it's a quality crackdown. YouTube says AI is "a tool for expression, not a replacement" and will keep legit AI-assisted content while axing the garbage

This follows a November report from Kapwing that tracked the top 100 AI content channels. Two months later, Android Police noticed 16 of them had vanished. The timing matches Mohan's January 2026 letter where he drew a line between creative AI use and mindless slop flooding Shorts.

Why this matters: YouTube finally said the quiet part out loud. They're not anti-AI, they're anti-lazy. This is the first major platform to publicly use "slop" in official communications and back it up with mass deletions. It sets a precedent: if you're using AI to spam the algorithm with soulless content (think bizarre baby videos and cat affairs), your days are numbered.

Creator takeaway: If you're using AI in your workflow, make sure you're adding real value and creativity. The algorithm can now tell the difference between AI-assisted and AI-generated trash, and it's coming for the latter.
