What's going on:
Your TikTok DMs have basic security like Gmail, but TikTok employees can still read them
WhatsApp, Signal, iMessage, and Messenger all lock messages so only you and the recipient can see them
TikTok claims this is about protecting kids, but really it's about keeping access for law enforcement and their safety teams
✅ Bottom line: If you send sensitive stuff on TikTok, assume someone besides you can read it. Use Signal or WhatsApp for anything private.
TikTok is betting people will choose "safety" over actual privacy. But breaking encryption doesn't make platforms safer — it just gives more people access to your stuff.
Anthropic refused the Pentagon's deal over ethics concerns. But Claude is still being used to pick bombing targets in Iran right now.

Trump banned government agencies from using Claude and gave the military six months to stop using it
But the US started bombing Iran before that deadline, so the military kept using Claude
Claude is working with Palantir to suggest targets, create strike coordinates, and rank which ones to hit first
Meanwhile, Lockheed Martin and 10+ defense startups are already replacing Claude with other AI models because they're worried about future bans.
⚠️ The irony: Anthropic took a stand for AI safety, won public support, shot to #2 in the App Store, but now their AI is being used in an actual war while they lose all their defense customers.
They got the worst outcome possible: no money from defense contracts and no control over how their AI gets used in combat.
